For his best acting, he received the "Filmfare Best Actor award" for his performance in Brahmachari.
He also received another Filmfare award for the best supporting actor for "vidhaata".

Shammi Kapoor suffering from Chronic Kidney failure. His condition is more serious even he shifted to a ventilator room. He died on 14 August 2011. He Lived 79 years.
